Our customer, a disaster response provider, needed help coordinating shipments of essential supplies during hurricane season in Florida. We built a customized solution that added real-time visibility, transparency and flexibility to their supply chain. The Challenges of Disaster Relief Logistics

When our customer asked us to provide transportation for their disaster relief work in Florida, a hurricane was already on the horizon. Within 12 hours of their call, we had leveraged our network and dispatched 240 trucks to the area. For three months, we were on-site to coordinate the shipments that delivered food, water and other essential supplies to affected communities as three hurricanes made landfall.

That experience highlighted the challenges of disaster response logistics. Our customer didn’t have existing technology that could manage the fluid and rapidly changing nature of these shipments. Our capacity had met the challenge, but we knew our team could improve visibility and real-time shipment tracking to help everyone from drivers to dispatchers to state officials coordinating relief efforts.

At the end of hurricane season, before the next round of storms, we turned to our Engineering and Technology team for help.

The dashboard automatically refreshes with live order information from our system, removing the need for manual recordkeeping.
