What's In Store For the 2017 Great American Trucking Show

691826092
The 2017 Great American Trucking Show (GATS) is just two weeks away and the intense focus on the trucking industry as a whole may make this year's event the biggest yet. As you make your final plans to arrive in Dallas, here is a quick glimpse of the topics you can expect to hear more about during GATS.
  1. The ELD Mandate

This is the 800-pound gorilla in the room. Everyone knows it's there, but no one knows exactly what to make of it. One thing is certain – beginning December 18, 2017, the mandate WILL take effect. If your company hasn't yet prepared for the mandate, then GATS is a good place to start. The agenda for the show includes several educational sessions on ELD implementation and compliance, and most of the major ELD solutions providers will be on hand to showcase their products.
  2. Business Services

If you are the owner of a trucking company, you may often feel pressured into being a business owner first, and a trucker second. The 2017 GATS agenda includes several sessions aimed at helping manage back office tasks such as compliance, insurance, taxes, accounting, and payroll.
  3. Technology in Trucking

The development of mobile technologies has been, and will continue to be, revolutionary for commercial trucking. Current tech products run the gamut – from location-based apps for routing, finding low-price gas, and load tracking, to more robust end-to-end technology solutions like J.B. Hunt 360, which allows carriers to find, book, dispatch, and update loads from a single platform. Visitors to Booth #24013 can try out J.B. Hunt 360 and create their account with assistance from the J.B. Hunt Carrier Relations team.
  4. Health and Fitness

The trucking community historically has high rates of diabetes, tobacco use, and obesity among its members. Attendees at GATS can learn more about living a healthy lifestyle while on the road with seminars on telemedicine, smoking cessation, healthy cooking demos, and a trucker fitness competition.
Commercial trucking is in the midst of a period of immense scrutiny. This could lead to sweeping changes across the industry. Make plans to attend the 2017 Great American Trucking Show to get the latest on regulations, business operations, technology, and trucking life. Visit J.B. Hunt in Booth #24013 to learn more about putting our technology and services to work for your company.
