As we are all navigating the “new normal” and learning to be mindful of contact with others, carriers and shippers are finding new ways of operating to keep themselves and their teams safe and healthy while providing essential services.
The new electronic bill of lading (eBOL) feature aims to help carriers and receivers reduce contact during deliveries. This simple new process allows a receiver to electronically sign the bill of lading.
How does it work?
- When a driver arrives, offer to send the receiver an eBOL via email or QR code. If you are the receiver, request an eBOL when the driver arrives at your facility.
- The driver will input in/out times on the eBOL and enter the receiver’s email address or generate a QR code.
- Once the email arrives in the receiver’s inbox, the receiver should open the email and click the link to access the eBOL or scan the code.
- After reviewing and verifying the in/out times shown on the eBOL, the receiver can e-sign in just a few clicks. If changes are needed to the times shown on the eBOL, the receiver can discuss changes directly with the driver. The driver can resend the email with the agreed upon times listed on the eBOL.
- The driver will receive a confirmation once the e-signature is received.
- A signed proof of delivery (POD) is automatically sent to the same email address.
