NS Reopens Gates With Restrictions
On June 26, a non-intermodal train derailed on the Wabash River bridge in Mount Carmel, Ill. As a result of the bridge outage, NS closed its gates in St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo., Atlanta/Austell, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla., for shipments moving between Missouri and the Southeast. NS estimates that the bridge will return to service by July 15. However, an alternate rail route has been implemented allowing NS to reopen the gates with restrictions. Below is a summary of current rail gate restrictions impacting J.B. Hunt and its customers.
Current gate restrictions:
- NS St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo., to NS Atlanta/Austell, Ga.
- NS Atlanta/Austell, Ga., and NS Jacksonville, Fla., to NS St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo.
- All NS origin points to NS Jacksonville, Fla.
Customers can help improve network fluidity by accepting deliveries within 24 hours of deramp and unloading dropped containers within 24 hours of arrival. With a vast network of service offerings, J.B. Hunt can provide highway solutions to mitigate these intermodal disruptions. A representative will communicate load specific delays along with alternative routing options.
J.B. Hunt will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. Customer service is extremely important to J.B. Hunt, and we apologize for the inconvenience these service interruptions have caused.
