Rail Gate Restrictions Disrupt Intermodal Service
The rail network continues to work through ongoing ramp congestion, labor challenges and car imbalances. As a result of progress in Chicago, BNSF has lifted all gate restrictions at its Corwith ramp, effective immediately. With improvement in Los Angeles, BNSF has also eased gate restrictions at its Hobart ramp. By Thursday, May 13, the Los Angeles gate restrictions will be eased to a point allowing normal ingate volume. However, pickup delays are expected to persist through at least Tuesday, May 18, as J.B. Hunt processes the backlog of shipments.
Considering the ongoing rail velocity slowdown and equipment imbalances, J.B. Hunt anticipates container availability will remain extremely constrained throughout the country. Customers can help improve container availability by accepting deliveries within 24 hours of deramp and unloading dropped containers within 24 hours of arrival.
J.B. Hunt will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. Customer service is extremely important to J.B. Hunt, and we apologize for the inconvenience these service interruptions have caused.
