How much money can you make driving OTR with J.B. Hunt? Last year, our top-earning OTR company-driver earned almost $70k. More realistically, the 12-month earning average for drivers is $40k to $50k per year.
With as little as three months experience, you can drive OTR with J.B. Hunt.
Drivers residing in our primary OTR hiring areas (indicated within the red lines) start at a base mileage rate from 33 cpm to 36 cpm, depending on experience. A 1 cpm raise will follow after four months, bringing mileage pay to 34 cpm. From 34 cpm, drivers step up 2 cpm, reaching 36 cpm after four months. From 36 cpm, pay will increase at half-cent per mile increments annually, up to 45 cpm. Add the monthly performance bonus of 2 cpm, which approximately 50% of J.B. Hunt drivers currently earn, and you have earning potential of 47 cpm. You’re eligible for this bonus immediately, with no waiting period. Add to your mileage rate any short-haul rates, accessorial pay and driver-referral bonuses, and it’s easy to see why J.B. Hunt’s OTR drivers out-earn many others in the industry.
J.B. Hunt's OTR fleet is 100% conventional, consisting primarily of Freightliner® Century Class tractors with 455-hp Detroit diesel engines and several hundred International® 9400i high-rise sleepers, featuring the 435-hp ISX engine. Both models offer 10-speed transmissions, aluminum wheels, and comfortable interiors.
