Do I need to furnish all my own tools?
No. J.B. Hunt only requires technicians to own and maintain a basic set of hand tools, including air impacts and sockets up to one half-inch drive. J.B. Hunt shops maintain tools over one half-inch drive (including the specialty tools needed to work on J.B. Hunt engines and equipment) so that you do not have to buy them.
What if I am a recent graduate or just got out of the military and don't have tools?
If you are a recent Vo-Tech school graduate or have recently been discharged from the military J.B. Hunt offers special programs to assist you in acquiring a basic tool set.
Do you supply the uniforms?
Yes. J.B. Hunt has a national account with Cintas and you will be provided with a full set of uniforms for your use on the shop floor. In addition, we also provide safety glasses, hearing protection, and work gloves for your protection.
Do you hire graduates from qualified Technical Schools?
Yes. J.B. Hunt recruits qualified graduates from all national technical schools.
What shift will I be assigned if I am hired?
That depends on the shop and their working hours. As a new hire, you will be assigned to an open position based on your seniority with the company.
How easy is it to transfer to another shop?
You can transfer to another J.B. Hunt shop location as long as there is an open position and you have a recommendation from your foreman.
Will I receive training?
Yes. J.B. Hunt technicians receive intensive training in safety, OSHA standards and compliance, campaigns, etc. J.B. considers training to an essential part of maintaining and promoting professional excellence and safety in its shops.
