Manager in Training Program

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. actively recruits from a variety of backgrounds for our Manager in Training Program. The program is designed to train individuals desiring a career in transportation in any of our operating units: Truckload, Intermodal or Dedicated Contract Services. A career in operations can provide significant opportunities to achieve career goals and lead to management and specialized roles in operations, sales or other professional careers within our dynamic organization.

Manager Trainees will learn to manage a safe and efficient freight delivery operation and become proficient in D.O.T. and safe practices in the transportation industry. Trainees in Dedicated Contract Services receive hands-on experience in managing an operation, including financial accountability to a Profit and Loss statement, statistical performance analysis, billing, collection and budgeting, as well as learning how to be an integral part in delivering value to the customer and building customer relationships.

This program is a great opportunity for learning and professional advancement. Individuals interested in pursuing a career through the Manager in Training program should possess one of the following qualifications:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university, with a minimum GPA of 2.7.
  • Three years of experience with J.B. Hunt.
  • Prior management experience with demonstrated supervisory and decision-making experience. (Transportation industry management experience, including military transportation experience, is a significant advantage.)

Manager in Training Program participants are pre-assigned to one of J.B. Hunt's operating units. Upon completion of the program, a participant works closely with their supervisor to identify positions that would be optimal for their abilities. J.B. Hunt makes every effort to place trainees in or near their area of preference once they have completed the program. However, trainees should be flexible regarding placement and relocation.
